On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the famous artist, the Ernst Barlach Museum Ratzeburg is opening a multimedia thinking space for past, present and future, showing how relevant Barlach's art is to our questions today. War, flight, social deprivation, egoism and disregard for nature were Barlach's themes and remain ours today. What is also fascinating, however, is his innovative strength, his empathy for humans, his idea that everything in ourselves is already set up as a need and idea of a just world, and that we are allowed to dream and must hold on to the idea of being able to change this world.
"To every art it takes two: one who does it and one who needs it", Ernst Barlach 1917.
A great museum experience: rediscover Barlach!
